OM PRAKRUTHI DHAM,  a Registered Trust, established in the year 2004 at Polalli to protect and house stray, street cattles, going to Butcher Houses. We began our project with 5 cows. In the year 2007 District Collector of Mangalore was pleased to allot us 20 acres of land at Kompadhavu Village Sy. No – 125/2,  near Mangalore Airport, to develop our Gau- Shala. We named this as SURABHI VANA. On 22.12.2007 Shri Shri Shri Raghaveshwara Bharathi Swamiji of Ramachandrapura Matt, Inaugurated our SURABHI VANA Gau-Shala with 20 cows. By December 2008, eighty cows were added to this place. Now there are about 110 cows are being looked after by this Trust.

The area history supports the view that about 1000 years ago Saint Jabali was doing Penance at the jungle in Kompadavu. He was doing penance in a cave avoiding the evil people. When he was getting old, he called his disciple and asked him to maintain the place where he had been doing penance by rearing cattle- particularly cows. This was to protect his penance also. The local prince donates 1000 cows to the Saint Jabali along with the Kompadavu village and gave the responsibility of protecting the cows to the local police. This Gau-shala to continue to grow for many centuries as per Rishi Tradition. This Gau-shala slowly started being weak and weak when the place was ruled by kings who were eating beef.  When British rule started, this Gau-shala got vanished. Even then they reserved around 50 acres of this land for rearing cows. Out of this 50 acres, 20 acres of land was granted to the ‘Trust’ of “Om Prakruthi Dhama”   in the year  2007.

During year 1.4.2008. to 31.3.2009, we have developed the Gau-Shala with a total strength of 100 cows, with a total expenditure of Rs30.5 Lakhs. Daily expenditure for a single cow comes to Rs. 100/-. Presently we are spending not less than Rs.2 lakhs per month for our Gau-shala. Our income from sale of milk, milk products, cow dung, Arka etc... per month comes to Rs.20,000/-. The deficit amount of Rs.1.80 Lakhs is made good by donations.

In this financial year beginning from 1.4.09, we are planning to develop the Gau-Shala in big way. The projected figures shows a total expenditure up to Rs. 130.55 Lakhs. Projected statement is enclosed here for your perusal.

We are eagerly looking forward for your generous donation with a begging bowl.

Yours faithfully

President
